Intro

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good,

Yeah, His mercy stays like it should.

Verse

In my distress, I called Your Name,

You answered back—You broke the frame.

You set my feet in wide open space,

Put air in my lungs, put light on my face.

The LORD is for me, so I won’t fear,

What can they do when You’re this near?

I’m not gon’ lean on words from man,

I take refuge in the Great I Am.

Pre-Chorus

Oh let Israel say— (say it!)

“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

Oh let the house of Aaron say—

“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

Oh let those who fear the LORD say—

“His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

Chorus

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good,

His lovingkindness lasts like I knew it would.

This is the day the LORD has made,

So we rejoice—let the worry fade.

The LORD’s my strength, my song, my sound,

My salvation when the walls fall down,

Verse 2

All around me, nations pressed,

But in Your Name I won’t get stressed.

They circled me tight, they boxed me in,

But in the name of the LORD, I’ll rise again.

They swarmed like bees—whole room got loud,

But thorns burn out, smoke clears the cloud.

They shoved me hard, I almost fell,

But You reached in—You broke the spell.

Bridge

I shall not die, but live, (I live)

And tell the world what You did. (You did)

Open to me the gates of righteousness,

I’m walking in—no more stress.

The stone they refused, You made it stand—

Cornerstone heavy in Your plan.

Thou art my God, and I give thanks to Thee,

Give thanks to the LORD—His love stays endlessly.
